| There are 7 glasses. Have LIG on bottom. HISTORY: The Imperial Glass Company was organized in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio, and started manufacturing glassware in 1904. Its primary product was pattern (pressed) glass. By 1910 they were making a name for themselves by pressing carnival glass. Other lines were added including NUART, NUCUT, AND NEAR CUT. In 1916 the company introduced “Free-Hand,” (1922- 1928) a lustered art glass line, and “Imperial Jewels,” (1916-1920) an iridescent stretch glass that carried the Imperial cross trademark. In the 1920s, Imperial was one of the dominate manufacturers of iridescent or Carnival glass. In 1931 the company entered bankruptcy but reorganized into the Imperial Glass Corporation. In 1940 Imperial bought the molds and assets of the Central Glass Works of Wheeling, West Virginia. In 1958 they acquired the moulds of the Heisey Company, and in 1960 the moulds of the Cambridge Glass Company of Cambridge, Ohio. Imperial used (reissued) these moulds, and after 1951 marked their glass with the “I” superimposed over the “G.” The company became a subsidiary of Lenox, Inc. in 1973 and an “L” was added to the “IG” mark. In 1981 Lenox sold Imperial to Arthur Lorch, a private investor, who modified the “L” by adding a line at the top angled to the left (ALIG). He sold the company to Robert F. Stahl, Jr., in 1982. Mr. Stahl filed for Chapter 11 to reorganize, but in mid-1984 all assets were sold to Lancaster Colony and Consolidated International
